Google AI Studio: Create and Manage Gemini API Keys for Booknaria

Booknaria uses your own Gemini API keys to convert manuscripts into audiobooks. Set them up once and reuse them for all your books.

1. Create your first API key

  1. Sign in to Google AI Studio — API Keys.
  2. Choose “Create API Key”.
  3. Select an existing Google Cloud project or create one.
  4. Copy the key and keep it private.

2. Organize additional projects if needed

Google AI Studio lets you organize keys by project. Its interface may limit the number of projects you can create (up to ten according to its documentation, subject to your account limits). You only need one key to get started.

Important: keys within one project share that project’s limits. Creating multiple projects does not guarantee ten independent free quotas. Limits and billing depend on the model, project and Google policies. Do not create projects to circumvent service restrictions.

3. Save your keys in Booknaria

  1. Sign in to Booknaria.
  2. Open “My space”, then “My Gemini API keys”.
  3. Paste your key and select “Add key”.
  4. Add more if necessary, up to the ten-key limit per Booknaria account.

Keys belong to your author account, not to individual books. You do not need to enter them again for every manuscript.

4. Generate an audiobook

In “My Studio”, import your manuscript, review its chapters, choose an available TTS model and voice, and start generation. Check chapter progress and any quota-related messages.

5. Rate limits, pricing and security

Free-tier availability varies by model and may change. Check current rate limits and billing before generating a long book. If you hit a limit, you may need to wait for the quota to reset.

  • Never reveal keys in screenshots or public repositories.
  • Immediately revoke a leaked key.
  • Monitor Google project usage and billing.
