THE STORY BEHIND BOOKNARIA

Writing is a journey.
Finding readers — and listeners — is another.

Booknaria grew from my experience as an independent author and one ambition: make audiobook creation more accessible to people who have already written their story.

MY JOURNEY

Publishing does not mean selling

As an independent author, I discovered the possibilities of self-publishing, and its difficulties too. Platforms such as Amazon KDP make publishing more accessible. But once a book is available, the hardest part may begin: making it known, finding readers and developing sales.

Between preparing files, questions about ISBNs and legal deposit with the French National Library (BnF), distribution platforms and promotion, independent authors must navigate many subjects beyond writing itself.

Why not simply work with a publisher?

A publisher can offer professional guidance, editorial expertise and distribution support. But manuscript selection is competitive and not every author finds a publisher. Self-publishing offers more independence, together with greater responsibilities.

What if a book could also find listeners?

I wanted to build a practical tool for the next step: turn an existing manuscript into an audiobook without necessarily needing a recording studio. With Booknaria Studio and Gemini voices, authors can prepare chapters, listen to narration, choose their preferred versions and export audio files.

Booknaria Library then helps showcase works and their authors, with samples and links to the platforms where people can discover or purchase them. The aim is to offer another opportunity for visibility, without promising sales.

Support, not a publishing house

Today, Booknaria is not a publishing house. We do not manufacture printed books or e-books. The studio creates audiobooks from existing texts. Guides may also help authors better understand self-publishing, distribution and marketing.
